The precipitated barium sulfate is amorphous white powder with good dispersion, specific gravity of 4.3-4.6, melting point of 1580 ℃, almost insoluble in water and dilute acid (20 ℃, solubility in water is 2.3x10-4), soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and molten alkali, slightly soluble in boiling hydrochloric acid.
